Engine / equipment
Driver airbag: Nissan Juke F16
Period mentioned
2019 (built from 4/4/2019 to 30/5/2019; only the VINs in the recall)
Symptoms
There is no warning before a crash.
Possible cause described
According to the EU alert A12/00391/21 (Safety Gate) and the UK DVSA (R/2021/074), because of an error in folding the driver airbag, the heat shield may not move fully into place around the inflator when it deploys; hot gas burns the fabric and the airbag may tear as it inflates and protect less. The fix is a new driver airbag.
