Engine / equipment
Rear oxygen sensor and engine control unit software: Nissan Qashqai J11, Juke F15 and X-Trail T32
Period mentioned
2014–2016 (only the VINs in the recall)
Symptoms
Nothing is noticed: if the rear oxygen sensor fails, the engine warning light does not come on straight away; it may come on after further driving.
Possible cause described
According to the UK DVSA (R/2016/157) and the EU alert A12/0879/16 (Safety Gate), if a short occurs in the rear oxygen sensor supply, the sensor fails without storing a fault code, so the driver gets no engine warning light. The fix is to reprogram the engine control unit so that it warns.
Check for the garage
