The DSG gearbox is noisy; on cars up to 2015, traction problems (the car does not put its power down properly when accelerating).

Possible cause described

In its 100,000 km test of a Fabia Combi 1.2 TSI DSG (May 2018), L'argus reports two gearbox faults: the DSG can be noisy, fixed by replacing the clutch kit; and up to 2015 there were traction problems fixed by replacing the 5th and reverse gear forks. The 1.0 MPI and 1.2 TSI petrol engines proved more reliable than the diesel.

Check for the garage

Tell the garage when the gearbox makes noise and whether the car pulls badly when moving off; ask for a gearbox code read-out and, on a Fabia up to 2015, have the 5th and reverse forks checked before replacing the mechatronic unit.
