2013–2016 (built from 1/8/2013 to 13/1/2016; only the VINs in the recall)
Symptoms
There is no warning before a crash.
Possible cause described
According to the EU alert A12/0724/16 (Safety Gate, notified by Germany) and the UK DVSA (R/2016/095), the seat back trim stitching in the side airbag area may be too close and too tight; in a crash, the airbag may not have enough force to tear it and may not deploy properly. The fix is new seat back trim.
