Slight jerk or clunk when accelerating again with the dual-clutch gearbox, which is normal (Mercedes 7G-DCT, 8G-DCT and 8F-eDCT)Gearbox
- Engine / equipment
- Mercedes-Benz with 7G-DCT (724.0), 8G-DCT (724.1) or 8F-eDCT (724.3) dual-clutch gearbox
- Period mentioned
- 2013–2025 (US model years)
- Symptoms
- Now and then a brief jerk, clunk or thud from the gearbox, mostly when going from coasting to pressing the accelerator (for example, when a traffic light turns green as you approach).
- Possible cause described
- Mercedes explains that dual-clutch gearboxes shift more abruptly because they pull away and change gear with real clutches, and that this slight jerk is a normal technical characteristic. If diagnosis finds no faults, no parts need replacing (information LI27.10-P-080851).
- Check for the garage
- Ask the workshop to run the gearbox diagnosis; if no fault shows up, nothing needs replacing. It is more noticeable in the S, S+ and M modes.
