High-voltage battery, cooling and driver aids on the EQA and EQBHigh-voltage battery
- Engine / equipment
- Mercedes EQA and EQB electric
- Period mentioned
- 2021–2024
- Symptoms
- Risk of an internal short circuit in the high-voltage battery; leaking coolant reservoirs and faulty distribution valves; sporadic failures of driver aids (high beam, lane keeping, emergency braking, camera) and of the charging flap.
- Possible cause described
- Mercedes recalled more than 50,000 2021–2024 EQA and EQB for a possible internal short circuit with fire risk (KBA 16136R): first battery-management software and later battery replacement. The rest comes from owners in forums.
- Check for the garage
- Check recall 16136R by VIN and follow the charging instructions until the repair; check the coolant level.

Heating that barely warms after a loud “plop”: cracked air-conditioning compressor line (EQA and EQB)Climate control
- Engine / equipment
- Mercedes EQA (H243) and EQB (X243) electric
- Period mentioned
- 2022–2023
- Symptoms
- The heating gives little heat (and the air conditioning cools poorly); the driver often remembers a single loud “plop” during a journey. B19A200 (electric compressor overtemperature) or P053400 (refrigerant level too low) may be stored.
- Possible cause described
- Mercedes-Benz bulletin LI83.20-P-076623 (June 2023) describes the hot-gas line between the compressor and the condenser cracked. If there are also particles in the dryer cartridge filter, the circuit is flushed and the compressor (with the new part number), that line and the complete condenser are replaced. The cause was still being analysed.
- Check for the garage
- The garage reads the climate-control codes, looks at the line between compressor and condenser and checks the dryer cartridge filter. According to the bulletin, a noisy compressor alone is no reason to replace it: it has to match the codes or the particles.

“Coolant level too low” warning with a properly filled reservoir (EQA and EQB, P25567B)Cooling
- Engine / equipment
- Mercedes EQA and EQB electric (platform 243)
- Period mentioned
- 2022–2025
- Symptoms
- While driving the coolant-level-too-low message appears and the yellow warning light comes on, with P25567B stored; when the cap is opened the level is fine again.
- Possible cause described
- According to Mercedes-Benz bulletin LI20.30-P-078333 (2024 and 2025), the electric motor pushes air into the cooling circuit; an air cushion forms in the expansion reservoir and, while driving, the level drops below the sensor threshold although no coolant is missing.
- Check for the garage
- Do not top up blindly or open the reservoir when hot. If the level is right when cold and there are no leaks, the garage swaps the black cap of the large chamber for the red one and raises the level about 20 mm above the maximum; if that is not enough, it fits the modified reservoir. If the level really drops, look for a leak.

Heavier steering when parking, with no warnings or codes: electric power steering software (EQA and EQB)Suspension and steering
- Engine / equipment
- Mercedes EQA and EQB electric (platform 243)
- Period mentioned
- 2022–2024
- Symptoms
- When stationary or below about 11 km/h, for example when parking, the steering is only partly assisted. No warning appears and no code is stored. It works normally again after switching off and on or above that speed, but it may come back.
- Possible cause described
- Mercedes-Benz bulletin LI46.35-P-077911 (September 2024) puts it down to the software of the electric steering unit (N68); it is fixed by updating it.
- Check for the garage
- If the steering gets heavy at low speed without any warning, ask Mercedes for the steering software update before replacing parts. If it also gets heavy while driving or a steering warning appears, stop somewhere safe and call for assistance.
- Cost cited in the source
- No parts cost: it is a software update; ask whether the warranty covers it.A rough figure from the original database, not an up-to-date quote.

Several warnings at once in the instrument cluster when switching on or pre-conditioning while plugged in: rear motor electronics (EQA and EQB 4MATIC, P061AE9)Electric drive
- Engine / equipment
- Mercedes EQA and EQB with a rear motor (4MATIC)
- Period mentioned
- 2022–2023
- Symptoms
- Several fault messages appear in the instrument cluster, especially if pre-conditioning starts or the ignition is switched on with the charging cable plugged in; power may be reduced. The rear-axle power electronics (N129/2) store P061AE9 and sometimes others such as U009BFF, P0A31FF or P0A1C9A.
- Possible cause described
- Mercedes-Benz bulletin LI08.20-P-077050 (October 2023) explains that the rear-axle power electronics detect an undervoltage with the car unlocked and store P061AE9. It is fixed with a software update of that unit.
- Check for the garage
- Check whether the car has a rear motor (4MATIC) and whether P061AE9 is in unit N129/2. Before replacing the motor or its electronics, ask Mercedes for the software update; if the code comes back afterwards, the garage opens a technical case with the brand.
- Cost cited in the source
- No parts cost: it is a software update; ask whether the warranty covers it.A rough figure from the original database, not an up-to-date quote.

Squeal from the electric motor when reversing slowly (EQA, EQB, EQE and EQS): normal, no parts to replaceElectric drive
- Engine / equipment
- Mercedes EQA, EQB (243), EQE and EQS electric
- Period mentioned
- 2022–2023
- Symptoms
- When reversing very slowly (below about 6 km/h) a squeal comes from the drive unit; it does not happen going forwards.
- Possible cause described
- According to Mercedes-Benz bulletin LI08.10-P-075764 (January 2023), a seal separating the coolant circuit from the electric motor is wetted with coolant when driving forwards; when the direction of rotation changes slowly it may stay dry and squeal (the “stick-slip” effect). It does not affect the function or durability of the seal or the motor.
- Check for the garage
- If the squeal only happens when reversing slowly, with no warnings and no loss of power, the bulletin says no part should be replaced. If there are warning lights, coolant loss or noise going forwards too, have the garage check it.
- Cost cited in the source
- No cost: nothing needs repairing.A rough figure from the original database, not an up-to-date quote.
