12 V battery, charging and park actuator on the Mégane E-Tech ElectricElectrical and electronic systems
- Engine / equipment
- Renault Mégane E-Tech Electric
- Period mentioned
- 2022 onwards
- Symptoms
- The car will not start or the central screen goes off because of the 12 V battery; “charging impossible” messages with some wallboxes; P that does not lock properly.
- Possible cause described
- On Renault’s official E-Tech community, owners report 12 V batteries going flat soon after parking and breakdowns from voltage drops; charging failures with some wallboxes are usually fixed by software. What Car? lists a recall for the parking-brake or P-lock actuator.
- Check for the garage
- Ask for a 12 V battery test and the latest updates; check the actuator campaign by VIN.

Air conditioning failure and “charge batterie DC impossible” after a fast charge (2022 Mégane E-Tech Electric)Climate control
- Engine / equipment
- Renault Mégane E-Tech Electric without heat pump, early cars
- Period mentioned
- 2022
- Symptoms
- After a DC fast charge, almost always after a long motorway trip in hot weather, the air conditioning stops cooling, a seizing noise is heard and the instrument panel may show “Anomalie batterie de traction” (traction battery fault) or “charge batterie DC impossible” (DC charging impossible).
- Possible cause described
- According to L'argus (August 2022), with the battery at 40–45 °C and some delay between plugging in and charging starting, a valve linking the battery cooling circuit with the air-conditioning circuit stays in its rest position: the compressor runs empty without lubrication and is damaged, sometimes beyond repair (metal filings in the pipes). It affects cars without a heat pump (about 2,000 cars); Renault prepared an over-the-air update for September 2022.
- Check for the garage
- Check that the car has Renault's software update installed. If the air no longer cools after a fast charge, the garage checks the compressor and looks for metal filings in the pipes. Until the update was installed, Renault advised keeping the air conditioning on during fast charges.
