Short circuit in a high-voltage battery module on the e-tron GTHigh-voltage battery
- Engine / equipment
- Audi e-tron GT and RS e-tron GT
- Period mentioned
- 2021–2024
- Symptoms
- Usually none before the fault; a battery fault warning or an instruction not to charge above 80%.
- Possible cause described
- A short circuit may occur inside a high-voltage battery module, with a fire risk. In the US, Audi recalled 2022–2024 model-year e-tron GT and RS e-tron GT cars in March 2024 (NHTSA 24V-228 and 24V-229) and in September 2024 widened the campaign to 6,499 cars (24V-726, which replaces both): diagnostic software is installed, cars that send battery data are monitored remotely and, if a module is flagged, owners are asked to charge to no more than 80% until it is replaced.
- Check for the garage
- Ask Audi by VIN whether the campaign has been done and whether any module is flagged; keep to the 80% limit if told to.
- Cost cited in the source
- Free under the recall.A rough figure from the original database, not an up-to-date quote.
