EGR, particulate filter, front axle and ABS module on the Santa Fe IIKnown weak points
- Engine / equipment
- Hyundai Santa Fe II (2.7 V6 petrol and 2.2 CRDi)
- Period mentioned
- 2006–2012
- Symptoms
- Loss of power when cold from a dirty EGR, a clogged particulate filter, front-axle and drive-shaft noises, headlights and tail lights that fail early and leaks from the oil filter.
- Possible cause described
- The car’s weight punishes the joints; the EGR and particulate filter suffer on short trips. There were recalls: moisture in the ABS module that could cause a short circuit with fire risk, the brake-light switch and a fuel line that could leak.
- Check for the garage
- Check the recalls by VIN (especially the ABS one), clean the EGR, run a filter regeneration and check play, drive shafts and lights before the roadworthiness test.
- Cost cited in the source
