3 known faults with sources
Applies if: Only cars built in Slovakia from 2/1/2020 to 16/12/2020.
Touchscreen that does not respond or stays black (2020 Kia Ceed, XCeed and Sportage)Electrical and electronic systems
- Engine / equipment
- Kia Ceed (five-door and SW), ProCeed, XCeed and fourth-generation Sportage built in Slovakia (all versions)
- Period mentioned
- 2020
- Symptoms
- The multimedia screen sometimes does not respond to touch or stays completely black.
- Possible cause described
- According to L'argus (June 2021), an internal fault of the circuit board (PCB) that runs the whole multimedia system, on cars built in Slovakia from 2/1/2020 to 16/12/2020.
- Check for the garage
- Check the build date. If the garage confirms the fault, the fix is to replace the whole audio, video and navigation unit (about 40 minutes on the Sportage and under 20 on the others), taking care not to damage the dashboard trim.
- Cost cited in the source
- Kia's warranty for the audio and navigation system is 3 years (not 7); according to L'argus, it should be covered without difficulty.A rough figure from the original database, not an up-to-date quote.

Black instrument-panel display or a needle that falls off on the Kia Ceed, ProCeed and XCeedElectrical and electronic systems
- Engine / equipment
- Third-generation Kia Ceed (five-door and SW), ProCeed and XCeed (all versions)
- Period mentioned
- 2018–2020
- Symptoms
- The display between the speedometer and the rev counter stays black and no warning sounds any more; or a needle falls off, shifts or sticks.
- Possible cause described
- According to L'argus (May 2021) these are two separate faults. The black display (Ceed five-door, SW and ProCeed built up to 30/9/2019) is a failure of the internal memory linked to unstable voltage in the wiring harness. The falling needle affects a few cars built in November 2020 (XCeed from 10 to 13/11, ProCeed from 11 to 12/11, Ceed five-door from 10/11 to 1/12 and SW from 20/11 to 1/12).
- Check for the garage
- Check the build date. The black display can only be fixed by replacing the whole instrument panel; the needle can sometimes be repaired with plastic stops, otherwise the panel is replaced too. There is no recall: ask the dealer to cover it under the 7-year warranty.

Judder on the 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox (7DCT)Automatic gearbox
- Engine / equipment
- 7-speed dry dual-clutch automatic (7DCT)
- Period mentioned
- Approx. 2015–2021
- Symptoms
- Abnormal vibration or shudder when pulling away and at low speed, especially in traffic.
- Possible cause described
- Dual-clutch behaviour at low speed; Hyundai and Kia issued technical bulletins with new gearbox software (anti-judder logic) and, if that is not enough, a clutch replacement.
- Check for the garage
- At the dealer: run the judder test with the diagnostic tool, install the latest gearbox software and replace the dual clutch only if the judder remains.
