Clogged petrol particulate filter on the StingerExhaust and emissions
Engine / equipment
Kia Stinger petrol from the 09/2018 facelift (with particulate filter)
Period mentioned
2018–2023
Symptoms
Loss of power, especially when accelerating; later damage to the engine and turbo cannot be ruled out.
Possible cause described
With many short trips the engine does not get hot enough to burn off the deposits: the filter clogs and exhaust back-pressure rises. There were also KBA recalls for the engine-bay wiring harness (up to 2018), the ABS/ESP module (short-circuit risk) and the fuel pre-feed pump.
Check for the garage
Occasionally drive a long motorway trip; read the filter codes; check the recalls by VIN.
