EGR pipes, particulate filter and leaks on the Trafic III 1.6 dCiExhaust and emissions
- Engine / equipment
- Renault Trafic III (1.6 dCi and 2.0 dCi)
- Period mentioned
- 2014 onwards
- Symptoms
- Loss of power, soot, burning smell and a warning light from cracked EGR pipes; a clogged particulate filter on short trips; oil from the timing-cover seal; rarely, block cracks.
- Possible cause described
- The 1.6 dCi high-pressure EGR pipes were too thin and crack from vibration and heat (free campaign). There was also a recall to check and tighten the rear-axle bolts on every Trafic III.
- Check for the garage
- Check the EGR and rear-axle campaigns by VIN; drive long trips to regenerate the filter.

- Symptoms

- The chain can stretch at high mileage, the injectors can seize in the cylinder head and, with short trips, the particulate filter and EGR clog.
- Check for the garage
