1 known fault with sources

High-voltage battery flat after standing and seized rear brakes on the e-up!High-voltage battery
Engine / equipment
Volkswagen e-up! (also the Seat Mii electric and Skoda Citigo e iV, which are the same car)
Period mentioned
2013–2023
Symptoms
After several days standing, the high-voltage battery turns out to be flat; rear brakes that stick, rub or have rusty discs.
Possible cause described
The German Gebrauchtwagenberater guide explains that the e-up!’s high-voltage battery was often found flat after a long standstill: a software fault drained the 12 V battery and the high-voltage battery then had to recharge it; a software update fixes it. Because regenerative braking does almost all the work, the discs are hardly used, collect dirt and rust, and the brakes, especially at the rear, can seize. The KBA also recalled 122 e-up! cars over damaged cells, replacing the whole battery.
Check for the garage
Ask the dealer whether the software is up to date and the battery campaign has been done; check the 12 V battery and ask for the rear brakes to be cleaned at every service. Braking hard now and then helps clean the discs.
