P0107 Intake manifold pressure sensor: signal too low

Urgency medium

A code identifies a signal or system that needs to be checked, not a part you should replace.

Manifold Absolute Pressure/Barometric Pressure Sensor Circuit Low

The manifold pressure (MAP) sensor sends the ECU a voltage that rises and falls with the pressure of the air going into the engine.

What the car has detected

The voltage coming from the sensor is lower than a healthy sensor can give: it is nearly always an electrical problem.

The ECU falls back on default values and the car may lack power or go into limp mode. It is worth having it checked soon.

Symptoms

  • Engine warning light on
  • Loss of power or limp mode
  • Hard starting in some cases

Possible causes

  • Broken or shorted wire, or a loose or corroded connector
  • Faulty manifold pressure sensor
  • Fault in the sensor’s 5-volt supply

Checks for the garage

  • Check the sensor wiring and connector
  • Measure the sensor’s supply and signal
  • Compare the live data reading with the expected one

Next step

Ask for the wiring and connector of the manifold pressure sensor to be checked before the sensor is replaced.

Go to a garage soon. The electrical check needs a multimeter and a diagnostic tool.
