Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor A Circuit Low
A sensor on the fuel rail measures the fuel pressure. From it the ECU decides how long to open the injectors and controls the pump.
What the car has detected
The pressure sensor signal is too low: wiring, the sensor or, on diesels, low fuel pressure.
The car may lack power, jerk or stall, and in some cases not start. Have it checked soon.
Symptoms
- Engine warning light on
- Loss of power or limp mode
Possible causes
- Broken or shorted wire, or a loose or corroded connector
- Faulty fuel pressure sensor
- Low fuel pressure, on diesels
Checks for the garage
- Check the sensor wiring and connector
- Measure the sensor’s supply and signal
- Measure the actual fuel pressure
Next step
Ask for the rail pressure sensor wiring and connector to be checked and the actual pressure measured.
Go to a garage soon. The electrical check needs a multimeter and a diagnostic tool.
