Turbocharger/Supercharger Boost Sensor A Circuit Low
The boost pressure sensor sends the ECU a voltage that rises with the pressure the turbo builds.
What the car has detected
The sensor voltage is lower than a healthy sensor can give: it is usually a wire, the connector or the sensor itself.
Without a reliable reading the ECU limits the turbo and the car lacks power. It can be driven gently to a garage.
Symptoms
- Engine warning light on
- Loss of power or limp mode
Possible causes
- Broken or shorted wire, or a loose or corroded connector
- Faulty boost pressure sensor
- Fault in the sensor’s 5-volt supply
Checks for the garage
- Check the sensor wiring and connector
- Measure the sensor’s supply and signal
- Compare the live data reading with the expected one
Next step
Ask for the wiring and connector of the boost pressure sensor to be checked before it is replaced.
Go to a garage soon and drive gently meanwhile. The electrical check needs a multimeter and a diagnostic tool.
