Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch D Circuit Low
The accelerator pedal has no cable: it has two sensors that tell the ECU how far you press it.
What the car has detected
The signal from one of the pedal sensors is too low: the pedal or its wiring is failing.
With the pedal failing the car may not accelerate or may only idle, which is dangerous when joining traffic or overtaking. Drive very carefully and have it checked as soon as possible.
Symptoms
- Engine or EPC warning light on
- The car does not accelerate or only idles
Possible causes
- Faulty accelerator pedal
- Damaged pedal wiring or connector
- Another sensor sharing the pedal supply is shorted
Checks for the garage
- Check the pedal connector and wiring
- Compare the two pedal sensors in live data
Next step
Ask for the accelerator pedal and its wiring to be checked.
Go to a garage as soon as possible, avoiding motorways and overtaking. If the car will not accelerate, call for assistance.
