Diesel Particulate Filter Differential Pressure Sensor A Circuit
A sensor measures the pressure difference before and after the particulate filter (DPF). From it the ECU works out how much soot there is and when to burn it off.
What the car has detected
The ECU has found an electrical fault in the sensor: wire, connector, fuse or the sensor itself.
Without the sensor the ECU does not know when to regenerate the filter and it may fill up. The car usually keeps running, but have it checked soon to avoid a clogged filter.
Symptoms
- Engine or DPF warning light on
- Loss of power or limp mode
Possible causes
- Blown fuse
- Broken or shorted wire, or a loose or corroded connector
- Faulty differential pressure sensor
Checks for the garage
- Check the sensor fuse
- Check the sensor wiring and connector
- Compare the live data reading with the expected one
Next step
Ask for the fuse, connector and wiring of the differential pressure sensor to be checked before it is replaced.
Go to a garage in the next few days and avoid lots of short trips meanwhile.
