A code identifies a signal or system that needs to be checked, not a part you should replace.

P0130Front oxygen sensor circuit fault (bank 1)Urgency low
O2 Sensor Circuit (Bank 1 Sensor 1)
The front oxygen sensor, before the catalytic converter, measures the oxygen in the exhaust so the ECU can adjust the air-fuel mixture.
What the car has detected
The bank 1 sensor 1 oxygen sensor signal is wrong or its circuit fails, often because of the heater element inside the sensor.
The car usually keeps working, but it may use more fuel, pollute more and fail its roadworthiness test. Fix it without waiting too long.
Symptoms
- Engine warning light on
- Higher fuel consumption
- May fail the roadworthiness test on emissions
Possible causes
- Faulty oxygen sensor heater element
- Worn or faulty oxygen sensor
- Damaged oxygen sensor wiring or connector
Checks for the garage
- Check the oxygen sensor connector and wiring
- Measure the oxygen sensor heater resistance
- Check with the diagnostic tool that the sensor signal switches with the engine warm
Next step
Ask them to check the front oxygen sensor, its heater, its connector and its wiring.
It can wait a few days if the car runs well, but do not leave it long: fuel use goes up and the catalytic converter suffers.
