Slurping noise from the tank when it is half full (Mercedes C-Class W206 and E-Class W214 petrol)

Sources are not verified in real time and no entry confirms that your car is affected.

Engine / equipment
Mercedes-Benz C-Class (206) and E-Class (214) petrol
Period mentioned
2022–2026 (US model years)
Symptoms
A slurping noise from the fuel tank, sometimes loud or shrill, when the tank is about half full.
Possible cause described
With the tank half full, the secondary chamber is almost empty and the suction jet pump draws in small amounts of fuel and air, which creates vibrations and turbulence. Mercedes states that replacing the tank or the fuel delivery module does not fix it (information LI47.10-P-079604).
Check for the garage
Add or drain about 5 litres of fuel: if the noise drops or goes away, this is the case. In isolated cases it helps if the workshop releases and refastens the tank when it was installed under stress.
