- 1.5 Blue dCi (K9K, Euro 6): Dacia Sandero II, Logan II, Duster II, Lodgy and Dokker; Renault Clio V, Captur II, Mégane IV, Scénic IV, Kadjar, Kangoo and Talisman
- Period mentioned
- 2018–2021
- Symptoms
- The oil level drops too quickly between two services and has to be topped up often; some cars arrived with almost no oil left in the engine.
- Possible cause described
- According to L'argus (November 2022), with the engine switched off the oil tends to be drawn into the intake by the strong vacuum created when the intake throttle closes. Renault and Dacia fix it by reprogramming the injection control unit and then measuring the oil consumption (up to 1 h 30, no parts replaced). It is not a recall: it is only done if the owner asks. It covers cars built from 1/9/2018 to 1/10/2021 (Renault) and from 1/1/2019 to 31/7/2021 (Dacia): almost a million worldwide. L'argus's Sandero II guide adds that in some cases the engine had to be replaced.
- Check for the garage
- Check the oil level often. If it drops quickly, ask Renault or Dacia, with the VIN, for the reprogramming and the consumption test: you will not be told by letter. Renault said in 2020 that these engines can take up to 10,000 km for their consumption to settle, so note how much you top up and how often.
- Cost cited in the source
- The reprogramming replaces no parts (up to 1 h 30). L'argus does not say who pays for it: ask the dealer.A rough figure from the original database, not an up-to-date quote.
