Steering rack bolt that corrodes and may break (recall 48LS: Octavia, Superb, Karoq and Kodiaq)Steering
A recall does not mean your car is affected. Check the market, build date and VIN with the manufacturer.
- Engine / equipment
- Steering rack mounting on the front subframe: Škoda Octavia III and IV, Superb III, Karoq and Kodiaq I
- Period mentioned
- Built from November 2015 to August 2026 (only the VINs in the recall)
- Symptoms
- At first you may notice nothing. In the equivalent Volkswagen recall the warning signs given are unusual noises, play or stiff steering when turning the wheel, or a warning on the dashboard.
- Possible cause described
- Over the years, especially where roads are salted, moisture gets into the bolted joint and one of the bolts holding the steering rack to the front subframe corrodes. If the bolt head breaks off, the rack is held only by the other mounting and a heavy load (when parking, for example) can damage the housing; in the worst case the car can no longer be steered. The German KBA treats it as a safety defect (reference 17091R, Škoda recall 48LS, 1,719,030 cars worldwide, October 2026).
- Check for the garage
- Ask a Škoda dealer, with the VIN, whether your car has recall 48LS outstanding: they check the mounting and fit a more corrosion-resistant bolt, free of charge. If you notice noises when turning, play in the wheel or stiff steering, stop somewhere safe and call the dealer or breakdown assistance before driving on.

Takata driver airbag that may throw out metal fragments (recalls 69PB and 69PC; since June 2026 Škoda asks owners not to drive)Airbags and seat belts
A recall does not mean your car is affected. Check the market, build date and VIN with the manufacturer.
- Engine / equipment
- Gas generator of the driver airbag: Škoda Citigo, Fabia, Roomster, Rapid, Octavia, Superb, Yeti and Kodiaq
- Period mentioned
- Built from 14/5/2014 to 7/12/2017 (only the VINs in the recall)
- Symptoms
- There is no warning before a crash: the car works normally and no warning light comes on.
- Possible cause described
- The propellant of the Takata driver airbag deteriorates over time. If the airbag deploys, the inflator may inflate uncontrollably and throw out metal fragments that injure the occupants. There are two official EU alerts (Safety Gate): SR/00680/26, recall 69PB, cars built from 14/5/2014 to 18/8/2016; and SR/01853/26, recall 69PC, from 23/5/2016 to 7/12/2017, which since 1/6/2026 includes a request from the manufacturer not to drive the car.
- Check for the garage
- Ask a Škoda dealer today, with the VIN, whether your car has 69PB or 69PC outstanding; the replacement is free. If 69PC is outstanding, do not drive the car until the airbag has been replaced: ask them to collect it or for an urgent appointment.

Engine design cover that comes loose and may touch the turbo (recall 10H6: Octavia, Superb and Kodiaq 2.0 TSI)Engine
A recall does not mean your car is affected. Check the market, build date and VIN with the manufacturer.
- Engine / equipment
- Design cover on top of the engine: Škoda Octavia IV, Superb III and Kodiaq with the 2.0 TSI engine
- Period mentioned
- Built from 1/8/2020 to 28/2/2022
- Symptoms
- The alert describes no symptoms. The risk is that the plastic cover on top of the engine comes off its mountings and touches the hot area of the turbo.
- Possible cause described
- According to the official EU alert A12/00566/22 (Safety Gate, April 2022), the cover may come loose depending on use (very sporty driving or poor roads) and running time; if it touches the hot turbo, there is a risk of burns or fire. It covers 15,636 cars worldwide; car-recalls.eu says they have the 2.0 TSI engine.
- Check for the garage
- Ask a Škoda dealer, with the VIN, whether your car has recall 10H6 outstanding. If you smell burning plastic or see smoke from the engine bay, stop the engine somewhere safe and do not open the bonnet if you see flames.

Poorly welded brake pedal plate that may bend or come off under hard braking (automatic Karoq and Kodiaq of 2020)Brakes
A recall does not mean your car is affected. Check the market, build date and VIN with the manufacturer.
- Engine / equipment
- Brake pedal of the Škoda Karoq (NU) and Kodiaq (NS) with automatic gearbox
- Period mentioned
- Built in 2020 (model years 2020 and 2021)
- Symptoms
- The sources describe no early symptoms. The risk is that, when the brake is pressed very hard (an emergency stop), the pedal plate bends or, in the worst case, comes off.
- Possible cause described
- The weld between the brake pedal and its plate may be insufficient (ÖAMTC, January 2021). According to Radio Prague, the recall covers every automatic Karoq and Kodiaq built in 2020 and means checking more than 60,000 cars worldwide; Audi, Seat and Volkswagen had a similar problem.
- Check for the garage
- Ask a Škoda dealer, with the VIN, whether your car has this recall outstanding: they check the weld and, if it is faulty, replace the brake pedal. If the pedal feels loose, bent or moves sideways, do not drive on.

Frozen welcome screen and yellow light flashing on the SOS button: eCall may not work (Kamiq and Scala 2019–2021)Electrical and electronic systems
A recall does not mean your car is affected. Check the market, build date and VIN with the manufacturer.
- Engine / equipment
- Online connectivity unit (OCU) of the eCall emergency call: Škoda Kamiq and Scala
- Period mentioned
- Model years 2019–2021
- Symptoms
- The infotainment (MIB) welcome screen freezes and the LED in the emergency call (eCall) button flashes yellow.
- Possible cause described
- A software fault in the online connectivity unit (OCU) stops the eCall emergency call from working properly. Škoda fixes it at the dealer by updating that software (recall started in June 2020, according to ÖAMTC); AUTO BILD also lists this eCall recall among the Kamiq's.
- Check for the garage
- If you see the frozen screen or the yellow light on the SOS button, ask a Škoda dealer, with the VIN, to check whether the OCU update is outstanding. In the meantime the car can be used, but do not count on it calling for help by itself after a crash.

Failed front LED indicator with no warning on the dashboard (Superb II of 2013–2015, recall 97DR)Lighting
A recall does not mean your car is affected. Check the market, build date and VIN with the manufacturer.
- Engine / equipment
- Body control module (BCM) and front LED indicators of the Škoda Superb II
- Period mentioned
- Built from 2013 to 2015
- Symptoms
- A front LED indicator no longer lights up, but the dashboard does not show it (no warning or change in the flashing), so other road users cannot see that you are turning.
- Possible cause described
- Because of a wrong configuration of the body control module (BCM), the car neither detects nor shows a failure of the front LED indicators. Škoda opened recall 97DR (92,562 cars worldwide, November 2019): the dealer updates the BCM software. No accidents were known from this fault.
- Check for the garage
- Switch the indicators on with the car stationary and walk round it to check that both front ones light up. Ask a Škoda dealer, with the VIN, whether recall 97DR is outstanding; if an indicator does not light up, it has to be repaired before the MOT or periodic inspection.

- Engine / equipment
- Rear left steering knuckle of the Škoda Octavia IV (hatchback and estate)
- Period mentioned
- Built from 4/4/2023 to 18/4/2023
- Symptoms
- The alert describes no early symptoms. The risk is that the car loses stability, because the part affects the rear suspension and steering.
- Possible cause described
- According to the official EU alert A12/02508/23 (Safety Gate, October 2023), the rear left steering knuckle of Octavia IV cars built in those two weeks may be faulty, which affects suspension and steering and increases the risk of an accident. Škoda handles it with recall 42N1.
- Check for the garage
- If your Octavia IV is from April 2023, ask a Škoda dealer, with the VIN, whether recall 42N1 is outstanding. If the rear feels odd, you hear knocks at the rear left or the car pulls to one side, do not drive on and have it checked.

A recall does not mean your car is affected. Check the market, build date and VIN with the manufacturer.
- Engine / equipment
- Interior door locking mechanism (child lock): Škoda Octavia III and Rapid
- Period mentioned
- Recall announced in March 2017
- Symptoms
- The child lock may not lock the door properly, so it could open from inside even when the lock is on.
- Possible cause described
- Porsche România, Škoda's importer, notified the Romanian consumer protection authority (ANPC) in March 2017 of a possible fault in the interior door locking mechanism (the child lock) on 707 Rapid and Octavia III cars sold in Romania. The dealer checks the mechanism and replaces it if it does not work properly; it takes about an hour.
- Check for the garage
- With the child lock on, try opening each rear door from inside: it must not open. If it does, do not carry children in the back until it is fixed and ask a Škoda dealer, with the VIN, whether your car was in the recall.
