Symptoms

A small coolant leak that drips onto other parts of the engine bay; the «Maintenance Required» message may appear on the instrument panel, or the air conditioning may stop working properly.

Possible cause described

In December 2024 Toyota USA opened customer support programme 24TE04 for about 2.4 million cars (among them RAV4 and RAV4 Hybrid built from March 2018 to February 2021 and Camry Hybrid built from January 2017 to March 2021): a specific valve of the cooling system, the flow shut-off valve, can leak coolant. It is replaced with a new one.

Check for the garage

Watch the coolant tank level and look for dried residue or coolant drips in the engine bay. The garage confirms where the leak comes from before replacing the valve; if the air conditioning fails at the same time, check whether coolant has wetted its parts.
