Before you buy a used Fiat 500e.
Taken only from Testigo's sourced sheets. Use it to question the seller and on the test drive: it does not confirm that any particular car is affected.

The essentials.
- 4 documented, sourced faults for its engine.
- 3 of them depend on the equipment or the production date: ask what this car has.
- 2 official recalls on record: ask for the chassis number (VIN) and confirm they have been done.
Typical faults by engine
The period and mileage are those mentioned by each sheet's sources. They are not a maintenance interval and do not predict that any particular car will fail.

Official recalls: ask before you pay
A recall existing does not mean this car is affected or that it is still outstanding: it depends on the chassis number, the market and the production date.
- Ask the seller for the chassis number (VIN): it has 17 characters, appears in the car's documents and can usually also be seen at the base of the windscreen.
- Ask an official Fiat dealer, or the brand's official website if it lets you check by chassis number, whether each recall has been done or is still outstanding for that VIN.
- Manufacturer recalls are normally carried out free of charge by the official service network. If one is outstanding, ask for it to be done before you close the sale.

Electrical and electronic systems
Look out for: The car will not start or unlock with the key even with a full traction battery, because the 12 V auxiliary battery is flat; “Service 12V Battery” warnings; rusty brake discs and, in the worst case, a seized caliper.
Ask them to check: Measure the 12 V battery and its standby drain; ask for software updates; brake hard now and then and check the calipers.
Electric charging
Look out for: The car unexpectedly stops charging the high-voltage battery although it is still plugged into the charger.
Ask them to check: If charging has stopped, press a button on the key fob or open a door: the car wakes up and charging resumes. Do not replace the charger or car parts for this; ask Fiat whether a software update is available.
Bodywork
Look out for: Wet front carpet or kick plate on the passenger side.
Ask them to check: Lift the passenger mat and check whether the carpet is damp. The garage removes the door trim, checks the water shield and replaces it if damaged; dry the carpet well to avoid smells and mould.
Look out for: When raising the front windows, just before they close fully they go all the way back down (on both doors).
Ask them to check: Check whether it happens on both doors and always at the end of travel. Before replacing the window motor or regulator, have the garage check the glass channel next to the mirror; ask Fiat by VIN whether the car is in the service action.
