12 V battery and brakes on the electric Fiat 500eElectrical and electronic systems
Engine / equipment
Fiat 500e (2020 onwards) and Abarth 500e
Period mentioned
2020 onwards
Symptoms
The car will not start or unlock with the key even with a full traction battery, because the 12 V auxiliary battery is flat; “Service 12V Battery” warnings; rusty brake discs and, in the worst case, a seized caliper.
Possible cause described
A German garage cites the 12 V battery as a frequent cause of breakdowns: in city use it gets little charge and some control units draw current at rest. Because the electric motor does most of the braking, the friction brakes are used little and rust. Fiat releases software updates for charging and energy management.
Check for the garage
Measure the 12 V battery and its standby drain; ask for software updates; brake hard now and then and check the calipers.

The Fiat 500e stops charging while plugged into a home or AC chargerElectric charging
Engine / equipment
Fiat 500e electric (third generation)
Period mentioned
2024–2026
Symptoms
The car unexpectedly stops charging the high-voltage battery although it is still plugged into the charger.
Possible cause described
Stellantis bulletin 08-249-26 (June 2026) says it is a known software fault: the car “falls asleep” during charging. No parts should be replaced, because that does not fix it; the brand is preparing an update with no date yet.
Check for the garage
If charging has stopped, press a button on the key fob or open a door: the car wakes up and charging resumes. Do not replace the charger or car parts for this; ask Fiat whether a software update is available.
Cost cited in the source
No cost: it is a software fault.A rough figure from the original database, not an up-to-date quote.

Wet front passenger carpet on the Fiat 500e: door liner damaged at the factory (2024)Bodywork
Engine / equipment
Fiat 500e electric built from 25/6/2024 to 25/9/2024
Period mentioned
2024
Symptoms
Wet front carpet or kick plate on the passenger side.
Possible cause described
According to Stellantis bulletins 23-057-24 and 23-013-25, the water shield (the plastic sheet that seals the inside of the passenger door) was damaged during assembly on cars built from 25/6/2024 to 25/9/2024, and water gets into the cabin. The shield is replaced.
Check for the garage
Lift the passenger mat and check whether the carpet is damp. The garage removes the door trim, checks the water shield and replaces it if damaged; dry the carpet well to avoid smells and mould.

The Fiat 500e front windows go back down fully when you try to close themBodywork
Engine / equipment
2024 Fiat 500e electric
Period mentioned
2024
Symptoms
When raising the front windows, just before they close fully they go all the way back down (on both doors).
Possible cause described
According to Stellantis bulletin 23-052-24 (September 2024), the bracket at the front of the window belt mouldings is too narrow where it meets the glass channel next to the mirror, and the glass is slowed as it reaches the top. The garage checks and adjusts the channel opening.
Check for the garage
Check whether it happens on both doors and always at the end of travel. Before replacing the window motor or regulator, have the garage check the glass channel next to the mirror; ask Fiat by VIN whether the car is in the service action.
Cost cited in the source
In the US, under warranty (about 20 minutes of labour).A rough figure from the original database, not an up-to-date quote.
