MEB platform 12 V battery and softwareElectrics and software
Engine / equipment
MEB platform EVs: VW ID.3, ID.4, ID.5, ID.7 and ID.Buzz, Skoda Enyaq and Elroq, Cupra Born and Tavascan, Audi Q4 e-tron
Period mentioned
2020–2026
Symptoms
The car will not start or wake up after standing even though the traction battery is charged; 12 V battery warnings; screens that freeze or go black; charging sessions that will not start or cut out.
Possible cause described
The 12 V auxiliary battery frequently suffers deep discharge, and low voltage in turn causes starting and charging faults. Early software versions (1.x and 2.x) had many bugs; the ICAS1 control unit manages comfort and energy.
Check for the garage
Check the 12 V battery condition and the quiescent current draw, and confirm at the dealer that the car has the latest software. With ODIS: high-voltage battery (8B), high-voltage electronics (8C), charger (8E) and ICAS1 (C7).

Cracking noises under the car, around the battery (2022 Audi Q4 e-tron)Electric drive
Engine / equipment
Audi Q4 e-tron and Q4 Sportback e-tron
Period mentioned
2022
Symptoms
Cracking noises are heard from the rear or the underbody; the noise comes from the area of the high-voltage battery.
Possible cause described
According to Audi bulletin 2068564 (December 2022), the high-voltage battery cable duct is noisy. The battery is lowered and two bolts holding that duct are fitted; the production process was improved at the factory.
Check for the garage
It is a noise, not a battery fault, but the job requires removing the high-voltage battery: only at a garage equipped for electric cars. Ask Audi by VIN whether it can be done under warranty.

Booming noise at the rear that changes with speed and a slight judder when driving slowly (Audi Q4 e-tron, P18F100)Electric drive
Engine / equipment
Audi Q4 e-tron and Q4 e-tron quattro
Period mentioned
2022–2023
Symptoms
A low booming noise is heard at the rear that depends on speed, and the car judders slightly when driving slowly, forwards and in reverse. In neutral the noise goes away. P18F100 may be stored in the electric drive.
Possible cause described
According to Audi bulletin 2068250 (November 2022), metal particles at a wheel speed sensor, the hub, the bearing or the drive shaft give false wheel-speed signals; the electric drive limits its function (P18F100) and the booming noise appears. The particles may be in places that cannot be seen.
Check for the garage
The garage reads P18F100 in the electric drive unit and removes the wheel speed sensor, hub, bearing and drive shaft of the affected wheel to find and clean off the metal particles, replacing whatever is damaged.
