Symptoms: The brake warning lights and a screen message come on; the pedal needs more force; ABS and stability control stop working.
Possible cause described: BMW recalled more than a million cars built from June 2022 over a supplier’s integrated braking system (Continental’s MK C2, according to the press): interference in its electronics, or broken welds in its servomotor according to the US recall, can make the pedal harder and leave the car without ABS or DSC. The whole system is replaced in about 3.5 hours (KBA 13586, BMW campaign 0034670200); there were waits of months because of parts shortages.

Creak when turning the steering wheel lock to lock, caused by tension in the steering rack (5 Series G60, 7 Series G70 and iX)Steering

Possible cause described: The steering rack is under tension on the front axle carrier. BMW says to replace the steering rack mounting bolts and then check the wheel alignment (bulletin SIB 32 05 26).
