Main battery contactor on the Mustang Mach-EHigh-voltage battery
- Engine / equipment
- Ford Mustang Mach-E electric
- Period mentioned
- 2020–2022
- Symptoms
- Powertrain fault warning and a “Stop Safely Now” message: the car loses drive power while moving, or will not start.
- Possible cause described
- The high-voltage battery main contactor overheats with fast charging or repeated full-throttle acceleration: the contacts deform and stay open (loss of drive) or weld shut (no start). Ford recalled about 49,000 cars built from 27/5/2020 to 24/5/2022 (software); after further failures, NHTSA opened an investigation and another campaign replaced the high-voltage junction box.
- Check for the garage
- Check by VIN that both campaigns have been done; if the warning appears, stop somewhere safe.

Stops charging on DC fast chargers because of the charging module software (Mach-E and E-Transit)Electrical charging
- Engine / equipment
- Ford Mustang Mach-E and E-Transit electric
- Period mentioned
- Mach-E 2021–2023 built up to 25/6/2023 and E-Transit 2022–2025 (US model years)
- Symptoms
- Charging stops on DC fast chargers; it still charges on level 1 or level 2 AC chargers.
- Possible cause described
- The charging module (SOBDM) software stores codes P0EEE:27 or P2E53:27 and cuts charging. Ford says replacing the charge port does not fix it and is preparing a software fix (SSM 55080).
- Check for the garage
- Charge on AC in the meantime and ask the garage to check whether new SOBDM software is available before replacing the charge port.
