2.2 TDCi Euro 4 injectors and oil pump on the 2006–2014 TransitInjection / turbo
- Engine / equipment
- Ford Transit VII 2.2 / 2.4 / 3.2 TDCi
- Period mentioned
- 2006–2014
- Symptoms
- Rough idle, smoke and loss of power; in serious cases, cracks in the combustion chamber and engine failure. Also a clogged particulate filter, a stuck EGR and, on campaign vans, sudden oil-pump failure.
- Possible cause described
- On the 2.2 TDCi Euro 4 (mainly 2006–2011) the injectors coke up and spray unevenly: the chambers heat unevenly and can crack; little-used vans and biodiesel make it worse. The ADAC lists the EGR, starter and injectors among typical breakdowns, and there was a recall because the oil pump could fail without warning.
- Check for the garage
- Test the injectors (back-leak and balance) and read the EGR and filter codes; check the oil-pump recall by VIN.
- Cost cited in the source
