Coolant leak from the loose electric water pump hose on the Niro EVCooling
- Engine / equipment
- Niro EV (II) electric
- Period mentioned
- 2022–2024
- Symptoms
- A "refill coolant" message on the dashboard and a heater that warms less and less; sometimes drops of fluid under the front.
- Possible cause described
- The hose from the electric water pump to the high-voltage battery comes loose at its connector, because the retainer clip was fitted horizontally, and leaks coolant under the bulkhead. Kia fits an improved hose with the clip rotated 90° (bulletin ELE332, April 2024, for Niro EVs built from 11/7/2022 to 24/1/2024).
- Check for the garage
- Do not open the coolant reservoir when hot. It is a high-voltage car: at a qualified garage, have them check the electric water pump hose connector.

Integrated charging control unit (ICCU) that stops charging on the second-generation Niro EVHigh-voltage battery
- Engine / equipment
- Second-generation Kia Niro EV
- Period mentioned
- 2022–2023
- Symptoms
- Slow or no charging on a household socket or AC wallbox (it does charge on fast chargers); “Check electric vehicle system” or “Stop vehicle and check power supply” messages and the fault light.
- Possible cause described
- The ICCU combines the on-board charger and the converter that charges the 12 V battery. Kia technical bulletin ELE298 (September 2023) covers poor or no AC charging on model-year 2023 Niro EVs built from 4/1/2022 to 29/3/2023: depending on the stored codes (DC/DC converter or charger), the ICCU is replaced.
- Check for the garage
- Try charging on AC as well as on a fast charger, read the codes and ask Kia by VIN whether bulletin ELE298 has been applied.
