Rear cross-member squeak on the Peugeot 308 IISuspension and steering
- Engine / equipment
- Peugeot 308 II built up to June 2016
- Period mentioned
- 2013–2016
- Symptoms
- Squeak from the rear axle on uneven roads or when the car's weight shifts in bends; it gets worse with mileage. A knock from the rear can also come from the silencer's rubber mount (cars built up to 9/10/2016).
- Possible cause described
- Rubbing between the pressed lower part and the rounded upper part of the rear cross-member. It affects cars built up to 10/12/2015 with a 25,000 Nm/rad anti-roll bar (the cross-member is replaced) and, according to a January 2017 note, those with a 30,000 Nm/rad bar built up to 20/6/2016 (some parts are replaced).
- Check for the garage
- Tell the garage when it squeaks (bumps, bends) and ask about the technical note on the cross-member; also have the silencer's rubber mount checked.
- Cost cited in the source
- No verified estimate; ask the garage for a quote.A rough figure from the original database, not an up-to-date quote.
