RECALL · BMW

Wipers or air flaps that fail, with a wiper fault message, because of the BCP control unit (BMW X1 and X3)

Sources are not verified in real time and no entry confirms that your car is affected.

A recall does not mean your car is affected. Check the market, build date and VIN with the manufacturer.

Engine / equipment
BMW X1 (U11) and X3 (G45)
Period mentioned
X3 built from 27/3/2025 to 27/4/2026 and X1 with production date 4/5/2023 (US bulletin)
Symptoms
The windscreen wipers or the air-conditioning flaps work incorrectly or stop working; a wiper failure turns on a yellow warning light with the wiper fault message.
Possible cause described
The BCP control unit (Basic Central Platform), which runs the wipers and the air-conditioning actuators, can be damaged by excessive current in parts of its circuit board. BMW inspects the control unit and the wiper motor wiring and repairs or replaces them if needed (service action SIB 61 12 26).
