Engine / equipment
Audio system and eCall emergency call: Tesla Model 3 and Model Y
Period mentioned
2018–2021 (with software 2022.8; only the VINs in the recall)
Symptoms
If the car loses low-voltage (12 V) power, the audio system may stop working, and with it the audio of the eCall emergency call.
Possible cause described
According to the UK DVSA (R/2022/131, Tesla code SB-22-00-010), software 2022.8 introduced a power management change whereby, after a loss of low-voltage power, the audio subsystem could become unavailable, including eCall. Software 2022.12.3 or later reverses that change.
Check for the garage
Check that you have software version 2022.12.3 or later (it installs over the air). If the audio does not work after a 12 V battery warning, book Tesla service.
Cost cited in the source
