Engines: 2.0 EcoBlue (Diesel)
Applies if: Same 2.0 EcoBlue with an oil-immersed belt; the new interval was published for the Transit and Transit Custom: confirm the one for your version at the garage.
Oil-immersed timing belt on the 2.0 EcoBlueTiming system
- Engine / equipment
- 2.0 EcoBlue diesel: Transit, Transit Custom, Ranger, Mondeo, S-Max, Galaxy, Kuga and Focus
- Period mentioned
- 2016 onwards
- Symptoms
- Often with no prior warning: belt debris in the oil, an oil-pressure warning or a broken belt with serious engine damage.
- Possible cause described
- Diesel from unfinished particulate-filter regenerations gets into the oil and degrades the belt, which runs in it; in extreme cases material comes off and blocks the oil-pump strainer. Ford cut the belt, tensioner and idler change from 10 years or 240,000 km to 6 years or 160,000 km on the Transit and Transit Custom.
- Check for the garage
- Follow the new 6-year or 160,000 km interval, check the belt condition and whether the oil level rises (diesel dilution); avoid trips that cut regenerations short.

Camshaft sprocket and turbo oil-return seal on the 3.0 V6 (Ranger)Timing system
- Engine / equipment
- Ford Ranger and Everest 3.0 V6 “Lion” diesel
- Period mentioned
- 2022–2025
- Symptoms
- The engine stalls suddenly; oil marks under the turbo.
- Possible cause described
- Ford recalled about 13,490 V6 Rangers and Everests in Australia because the left camshaft sprocket can fracture and stall the engine: the garage checks the build date and replaces it if needed. Separately, a turbo oil-return O-ring badly fitted at the Dagenham plant (UK) causes leaks; it is repaired under warranty.
- Check for the garage
- Check by VIN at the dealer that the campaign has been done.

EGR valve that fails on the Ranger plug-in hybridExhaust and emissions
- Engine / equipment
- 2.3 EcoBoost of the Ford Ranger PHEV (also the Mustang 2.3)
- Period mentioned
- 2024–2025
- Symptoms
- Weak acceleration, engine vibration, engine warning light, a no-start or loss of drive while moving (mostly below about 24 km/h).
- Possible cause described
- The exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve may fail. Australia’s official recall register published campaign 26S10 for 2024–2025 Ranger and Mustang models in March 2026; Ford New Zealand said that on the Ranger it affects only the plug-in hybrid versions and that no fix was available at first.
- Check for the garage
- Check campaign 26S10 by VIN at a Ford dealer; if you notice hesitation or the engine light, take it to the garage as soon as possible.
- Cost cited in the source
- Free under the recall.A rough figure from the original database, not an up-to-date quote.
