Brake judder from wheel nuts over-tightened or tightened unevenly (Toyota tech tip)Brakes
- Engine / equipment
- Any Toyota: it depends on how the wheels are tightened
- Period mentioned
- 2016 tech tip for all its models
- Symptoms
- Vibration in the steering wheel and the pedal when braking, even gently and at any speed, often shortly after wheels, pads or discs were changed.
- Possible cause described
- Toyota points out in a tech tip that if the wheel nuts are over-tightened or tightened unevenly (a single one is enough), the brake disc is left with runout and brake judder appears. It happens above all when they are run fully home with an impact gun instead of a torque wrench in a star pattern.
- Check for the garage
- Ask the garage to loosen and re-tighten the nuts with a torque wrench, to the manual's torque and in a star pattern, and to measure whether the discs have been left warped; if so, they will need skimming or replacing.

Electric drive module with torque spikes and a differential housing that can break (Stellantis large electric vans)Gearbox
- Engine / equipment
- Fiat e-Ducato, Peugeot e-Boxer, Citroën ë-Jumper, Opel Movano Electric and Toyota Proace Max Electric from 2024 (200 kW motor and 110 kWh battery), the same base as the US Ram ProMaster electric
- Period mentioned
- 2024–2025
- Symptoms
- Sudden loss of drive; electric-system warnings; knocks or noises from the drive unit under hard acceleration.
- Possible cause described
- In the US Stellantis recalled about 790 2024–2025 model-year Ram ProMaster electric vans (NHTSA 25V-665, campaign 98C) because the electric drive module software does not limit torque spikes and can leave them without drive: the software of several control units is updated and the module is inspected and replaced if needed. According to Mopar Insiders, Stellantis Europe opened the investigation in March 2025 after a plant alert about broken differential housings on drive modules fitted to e-Ducato vans. Since 2024 the large electric vans of Fiat, Peugeot, Citroën and Opel share the same 200 kW motor and 110 kWh battery, and the Proace Max is the same van with Toyota badges.
- Check for the garage
- Ask the dealer by VIN whether there is a campaign or update for the drive module; on the test drive, accelerate hard from a standstill and listen for knocks.
