Where do I find the Euro standard and the engine size?
  • The engine size is on the registration certificate (talon), in box P.1. In the vehicle identity card (CIV) it is at P1 or, on the oldest model, at point 10.
  • The Euro standard is in the CIV, not on the talon: at “Cod național de emisii” (point 16 or 17, depending on the model) or, on old CIVs, in the last two characters of the type-approval number (point 5). E4 means Euro 4, E5 Euro 5 and E6 Euro 6.
  • If you can't find it, choose “I don't know”: you will see the highest price, which is the one that applies when it is missing.

Euro 3 or older

Without the Euro standard you pay as Euro 0, the highest price (note 1 of the order). If your car is Euro 4, 5 or 6, you pay less: check the standard on your CIV.

How it works.

  • It is valid from 00:00 on the first day to 24:00 on the last, counting the first: the 12-month one ends the day before the same date the next year.
  • Electric cars have their own price. Hybrids also have a combustion engine, so they pay by their Euro standard.
  • If the Euro standard cannot be shown, the order counts the car as Euro 0, at the highest price.
  • Vignettes bought before 1 October 2026 stay valid until they run out.
  • Every year, by 31 December, prices are updated with inflation and apply from 1 January.
  • These are the prices for cars (category A, up to 9 seats including the driver). Vans and other vehicles pay different ones.
