Discharged 12 V battery diagnosisElectrical and electronic systems
- Engine / equipment
- Only the configurations, markets and VINs specified in each association.
- Period mentioned
- Specific production period stated in the condition and evidence.
- Symptoms
- Discharged 12 V battery; diagnosis must distinguish battery deterioration from quiescent draw.
- Possible cause described
- The bulletin addresses battery discharge and quiescent draw diagnosis, including module updates by VIN.
- Check for the garage
- Validate battery health and measure draw under MAS004769; check RU735/RU791 by VIN and update specified modules. Avoid disconnections that trigger STOLEN mode and distort measurement.

- No verified estimate. Confirm repair eligibility and terms by VIN.A rough figure from the original database, not an up-to-date quote.

View full entryWhistle when accelerating from the turbo-to-cylinder-head gasket (Grecale MHEV)Injection / turbo
- Engine / equipment
- Maserati Grecale 2.0 MHEV (M182), all years
- Period mentioned
- 2022 onwards
- Symptoms
- High-pitched whistle when accelerating that rises with the revs; rarely, a smell of exhaust gas in the engine bay.
- Possible cause described
- In several cases the whistle came not from the turbo but from the gasket between the turbo and the cylinder head. Maserati says to check it with a road test and data logging before replacing the turbo (diagnostic sheet DS 26-04, March 2026).
- Check for the garage
- Ask the garage to check the gasket between the turbo and the cylinder head before replacing the turbo; if you smell exhaust gas, do not drive with the windows closed and have it checked soon.

View full entryMisfires on one cylinder bank only caused by loose ignition coil ground connectionsEngine management
- Engine / equipment
- Petrol V6 and V8 in the Quattroporte (VI), Ghibli and Levante
- Period mentioned
- 2013–2024
- Symptoms
- Engine warning light on and shaking at idle, with misfires only on the cylinders on one side of the engine (for example 1, 3 and 5).
- Possible cause described
- The ground connections of that bank's ignition coils are not tightened properly. Maserati explains it in diagnostic sheet DS 25-25 (July 2025): on the V6 the grounds are on the cylinder head covers and are tightened to 10 Nm; on the V8, near the oil filter support.
- Check for the garage
- Note which cylinders the reader shows. If they are all on the same side, ask the garage to check the tightness of the coil grounds before replacing spark plugs, coils or injectors.

View full entryThermostat housing and chain tensioner on the 3.0 V6 twin-turbo (F160)Cooling
- Engine / equipment
- 3.0 V6 twin-turbo petrol (F160): Ghibli, Quattroporte and Levante
- Period mentioned
- 2013 onwards
- Symptoms
- Coolant smell after hot drives and a slowly dropping level; one to three seconds of chain rattle on a cold start.
- Possible cause described
- The plastic thermostat housing warps, cracks and seeps. The hydraulic chain tensioners lose pressure when cold; if left, the chain can slap and upset the cam timing. On the Quattroporte the air-suspension compressor also fails (80,000–130,000 km).
- Check for the garage
- Watch the coolant level and replace the thermostat housing preventively at around 80,000 km; listen on a cold start and check the cam timing if it rattles.
- Cost cited in the source
- Approx. CAD 900–1,500 for the thermostat housing (Canadian garage).A rough figure from the original database, not an up-to-date quote.

View full entryDuoSelect / Cambiocorsa robotised gearbox and timing chain on the 4.2 V8Gearbox
- Engine / equipment
- Maserati 4.2 / 4.7 V8: Quattroporte V (and Coupé / Spyder 4200 with Cambiocorsa)
- Period mentioned
- 2001–2012
- Symptoms
- Low-speed jerks and hesitation from the robotised gearbox; a clutch worn out before about 100,000 km in town; metallic chain rattle on a cold start; oil leaks from valve covers and sump.
- Possible cause described
- The DuoSelect gearbox’s hydraulic actuator is the part that fails most; the clutch wears quickly in town. A worn timing chain can jump and destroy the engine: replacement at around 100,000 km is recommended. Cheap oil or late changes damage the camshafts.
- Check for the garage
- Read clutch wear with the diagnostic tool, listen to the chain when cold and check the oil- and chain-change history.
- Cost cited in the source
- Approx. USD 1,500–3,500 for the actuator and USD 2,000–3,000 for the clutch; USD 3,000–4,500 for the chain.A rough figure from the original database, not an up-to-date quote.

View full entryEGR cooler and bearings on the VM 3.0 V6 diesel (EcoDiesel)Engine
- Engine / equipment
- VM Motori 3.0 V6 diesel (A630, “EcoDiesel”): Jeep Grand Cherokee and Gladiator, Chrysler 300C, Lancia Thema and Maserati Ghibli, Quattroporte and Levante
- Period mentioned
- 2011 onwards
- Symptoms
- Coolant loss, white smoke or combustion in the intake manifold (cracked EGR cooler); deep metallic knock and the oil-pressure warning (bearings); on engines from 2020, low oil-pressure warnings or a failing high-pressure pump shedding metal.
- Possible cause described
- According to mechanics and owners, the EGR cooler cracks from thermal fatigue (Chrysler recalled it) and the crankshaft bearings can fail from lugging at low revs or carbon in the oil passages. On the third generation (from 2020) there was a recall for the Bosch CP4.2 fuel pump. Maserati uses the same VM engine in its diesels.
- Check for the garage
- Check the EGR-cooler and pump campaigns by VIN; watch the coolant and oil pressure; with knocking or the oil warning, stop. Avoid lugging the engine at very low revs under heavy load.

View full entryRear camera that does not show an image (Grecale)Electrical and electronic systems
- Engine / equipment
- Maserati Grecale (2.0 MHEV and 3.0 V6)
- Period mentioned
- 2022–2024
- Symptoms
- The camera image does not appear when reverse is engaged.
- Possible cause described
- Maserati recalled 1,602 Grecales built from 5/5/2022 to 1/12/2023 in the US (NHTSA 24V-892) because the parking-assist module software can stop the rear image from showing; it is updated free of charge. There was another, wider campaign for the infotainment software.
- Check for the garage
- Check by VIN at the dealer that the campaign has been done.
